After 53 fights, 10 of them world championship bouts, could American John Ruiz be contemplating retirement? Well, maybe. The 38-year-old Ruiz last week said that if he doesn’t beat David Haye in their April 3 WBA heavyweight title fight in England, it might be time “to do something else with my life.” Ruiz’s 11th title fight, a mandatory challenge to the WBA champion has been confirmed for the MEN Arena in Manchester, with the champion’s Haymaker Promotions staging the bout. Haye’s trainer, Adam Booth, on the Quiet Man: “John Ruiz is a master at making great fighters look ordinary.”
